The following steps are from my trip (Monika) - a sensible and exciting recommendation. The main focus in this journey is to stay a bit in certain places as well. Of course, this trip can be booked just as suggested here. Optimal travel time: October to April

1st day of the individual trip Morocco: Casablanca

  • Casablanca - Arrival at the airport, pick up by our driver.
  • Depending on arrival time, city tour (see day 13).
  • Overnight stay in a hotel organized by us.
  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 of the individual trip Morocco: Rabat and Asilah

  • Departure after breakfast - we drive along the coastline to Rabat.
    Rabat is one of the imperial cities in Morocco and the current capital. We will visit the Highlights of the Moroccan capital, including: the Hassan tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and also the Kasbah of Oudaya.
  • Free time for lunch.
  • In the afternoon , we drive to Assilah the beautiful seaside city.
  • Overnight stay in a hotel in Asilah.
  • Dinner in one of the local restaurants or in your hotel.

Day 3 to 4 of the individual trip Morocco: Tangier and Chefchaouen

  • Departure after breakfast and drive along the coastline to Tangier, also known as " the bride of the north ". It is located northwest, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean in the Strait of Gibraltar.
  • Firstly , we visit the famous cave of Hercules and then the Cape Spartel (the exact point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea).
  • Free time for lunch in the beautiful medina of Tangier, before we drive inland to Chefchaouen.
  • Overnight stay in a hotel in Chefchaouen.
  • Dinner: in one of the local restaurants or in your hotel.
  • 4th day free time for sightseeing of the "blue city" Chefchaouen.
     

Day 5 of the individual tour Morocco: Volubilis, Meknes and Fez

  • Continue after breakfast.
  • We drive to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. It is well preserved, as it is recognized as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO . It has many beautiful mosaics scattered here and there, along with ancient pillars and  archways. After strolling in the ruins, we drive 30 km to visit Meknes, one of the imperial cities. There we visit Bab Al - Mansour, Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal stables, the granary and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum.
  • Then we continue our trip to Fez.
  • Overnight stay in a Riad.

Day 6 of the individual tour Morocco: Fez

  • We dedicate the 6th day to explore the Highlights of Fez city with a city guide. The city is considered as one of the imperial cities, besides being the cultural and religious center of Morocco.
  • Firstly, we start by visiting the Royal Palace gate, then the well preserved medieval Medina, that is listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. You will visit the Blue gate or Bab Boujloud, the entrance of the old Medina,  which appears to be a labyrinth of alleyways and streets.
  • You will enter the Medina to visit the Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, the Tanneries, and finally the Quaraouin mosque and university (the oldest university in the world).
  • After that we leave the Medina to visit the Jewish quarter also known as " the Mellah ". In the afternoon , we drive to an ancient fortress for panoramic view of the Medina and the city of Fes.
  • Finally, return to your Riad with dinner there.

Day 7 of the individual tour Morocco: Ifrane - Merzouga

  • After breakfast, we continue our 13 days tour to visit Ifrane. The city is famous for its low temperature, sometimes snow and the alpine-style architecture houses. No wonder it is called the Switzerland of Morocco.
  • After that we continue to the cedars forest, where the Barbary macaques live. Feel free to feed them, while walking in the forest.
  • Later, we continue to Midelt, where we will have a free time for lunch.
  • Then we drive to Merzouga through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz valley, with stops for panoramic views.
  • In the afternoon, we reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga, where you might switch to camels, cross the sandy desert and make a stop on top of a high dune to enjoy the sunset.
  • Finally, you continue to the desert camp, which is a combination between the traditional tents of nomads, and the luxury a hotel. There you can enjoy the Berber drums music and a campfire under thousands of twinkling stars.
  • Dinner and Overnight in the Camp.

Day 8 of the individual tour Morocco: Merzouga

  • Today we start a round trip to the Gnawa musicians, stop for tea with real nomads and visit a fossil museum. The area is famous for its fossil treasure and wealth.
  • We stop for lunch with our host family before continuing on to the impressive monuments of the German artist Hannsjörg Voth.
  • We also get to see the round mountain on the way back. Many movies have been filmed here (such as "The Mummy").
  • We return late in the afternoon. If you still like, you can rent a quad and drive through the dunes or "sandboard (free rental)".
  • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 9 of the individual tour Morocco: Rissani - Erfoud - Todra Gorges Dades Valley

  • After breakfast we leave the desert to visit Rissani town, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani still is a major trading center in the region with a large souk.
  • After a stroll in Rissani souk we continue to Erfoud where we visit one of the workshops of fossilized marble.
  • Then we drive through Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves to reach the Todra Gorges. The course of Todra river has carved out a grand high red cliff - sided canyon through the mountains. These gorges are an ideal place for rock climbers. Feel free to hike a little in the gorges and appreciate the beauty of the landscape.
  • Free time for lunch in a restaurant.
  • Then we continue to the Dades valley, through Boumalne Dades. Inevitable stops at the "monkey fingers" rock formation, and for the view of the Dades valley.
  • Finally, dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 10 of the individual tour Morocco: The road of 1000 Kasbahs to Marrakech

  • We start our tour today from your riad in dades, driving to Marrakech through Ouarzazet and the road of 1000 Kasbahs. We visit the Kasbah Taourirt, a largely preserved and restored castle complex (Unesco World Heritage Site).
  • After that we set off for the widely famous Kasbah Aît Ben Haddou. Many famous movies have been filmed here - most recently "The Game of Thrones". We spend some time there, visit the typical museum (entrance fee included) and stroll through the winding alleys of the medieval castle complex up to the observation tower.
  • Lunch on the road to the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech
  • Overnight stay in a Riad in Marrakech.

Day 11 of the individual tour Morocco: Marrakech

  • After breakfast we will be explore the Highlights of Marrakech with a local guide. The city is considered one of the four imperial cities in Morocco. The visit includes the Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs and the Ben Youssef Quranic mosque. And a stroll in the largest traditional souk in Morocco.
  • Free time for lunch near the Jemaa El Fna square.
  • Later you will visit the Koutoubia mosque, the largest in Marrakech, and the Majorelle garden.
  • Finally, transfer to your accommodation.
  • Feel free to have a walk in Jemaa El Fna on your own.
  • Overnight stay in the same Riad in Marrakech.

Day 12 of the individual tour Morocco: Essaouira

  • After breakfast we drive west to Essaouira city. On the way we will make stops to see the Argan trees goats and also for panoramic views.
  • We reach the Essaouira city, formerly Mogador, one of the most beautyful coastal cities in Morocco. We will visit the fishing port, the ancient ramparts with cannons as well as the large beach.
  • Finally, transfer to your hotel for overnight stay in a traditional hotel or riad.

Day 13 of the individual tour Morocco: Casablanca

  • In the last day of your 13 days around Morocco tour, we depart from Essaouira and drive along the coastline. Stops will be made for panoramic views.
  • Finally, we reach Casablanca airport.
  • Or, if time is left until your departure, we visit Casablanca city which is considered the economical center and the largest city in Morocco, including the visit the Hassan Il mosque the largest mosque in Morocco, located on the west coast of the city.
  • End of our tour.
